Our Sheet Metal Manufacturing Capabilities

Punching

Punching is a valuable technique for a wide variety of sheet metal. During the punching process, fabricators push the punch through the sheet, creating a hole of the desired shape and size. They then position the die under the sheet to collect the waste material created by the hole. In addition to creating holes, punching can also make indentations in the sheet metal and create features such as dimples or countersinks.

Stamping

Metal stamping is a manufacturing process that involves forming coils or flat sheets of material into specific shapes. Metal stamping is an excellent way to mass-produce various complex parts, from car door panels and gears to small electrical components used in telephones and computers. Stamping processes are widely used in the automotive, industrial, lighting, medical, and other industries.

Laser Cutting

Laser-cutting is typically the first step in the manufacturing process, where specialized tools such as shears or laser cutters are used to cut the sheet metal into the desired shape. Laser cutting provides a high degree of accuracy (+/- 0.1 mm) and is time efficient.
The cutting process is complex and depends on the type of material. The desired end product also plays a critical role in the selection of the cutting process.

Bending

The bending process is known as CNC bending and is a process that can be performed on a variety of machines. For example, a manual press brake or an automated plate bending machine. The machine forms the metal part by clamping the sheet and applying pressure to maintain the desired bend.
Bending can create a wide range of shapes and angles, from simple bends to complex shapes that require multiple bends.

Welding

Welding is an essential process in sheet metal fabrication that joins metal pieces together to form a single part. There are a number of welding techniques. Metal Inert Gas (MIG) welding is a typically fast option that is better suited for thicker materials. Tungsten Inert Gas (TIG) welding, also known as gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW), offers greater control and precision and is best for thinner materials. Robotic MIG welding is an automated version of traditional MIG welding.

Applications of Sheet Metal Fabrication

Sheet Metal

Rapid Tooling

Sheet metal can be efficiently cut into two-dimensional profile shapes and formed from a range of high-strength materials, making it an ideal choice for rapid tooling.

Sheet Metal

Rapid Prototyping

Rapid Sheet Metal offers a cost-effective solution for prototyping with lead times starting at three days, no minimum order volumes, and low per-unit costs.

Sheet Metal

End-Use Production

The per-unit price decreases significantly as production volumes increase. Sheet metal fabrication is a well-known production method that is combined with end-use materials and high throughput.

Tolerances of Sheet Metal Parts

Jingbang offers a range of sheet metal tolerances to suit your unique design requirements, including GD&T callouts, to ensure precision and accuracy. Additionally, based on the geometry of your part and the material you have selected, we can accommodate standard thread sizes, machine custom threads, and reach tolerances of up to ±0.001″. Moreover, our standard tolerances for CNC-milled metals are in accordance with ISO 2768-m, and for plastics, ISO 2768-c.
