Steel is an alloy of iron and about 1% carbon. Small amounts of other alloying elements such as molybdenum and chromium may be added to improve its properties. Steel offers a good balance between cost and functionality because it is easy to machine and weld. However, it will oxidize over time and therefore requires surface treatments for protection.
Steel metal CNC machining is utilized to make various parts in the medical, robotics, food, and beverage industries, aerospace, and other areas that demand high-strength applications.
